Wonderful characteristics such as high tenacity, low water absorption and excellent abrasion resistance make it useful for ropes, fishing nets and sheathings.
VECTRAN is a super fiber with multiple features, including abrasion resistance, stability under high temperature and low water absorbance. It is a polyarylate fiber, fiberized by the original technology of Kuraray. VECTRAN is well known for its use as the protective fabric for airbags that cushioned the landing of the NASA Mars Exploration Rover.
At the present, its use has not expanded to non-woven fabric or specialty paper, however, it is expected to be applied in these fields in future.

- VECTRAN has high resistance against rubbing.
- Heat resistance
- VECTRAN is strong against heat and displays stable performance under high temperature environment. It doesn't docompose under high temperature condition and hardly shrinks by heat.
- Low moisture absorption
- VECTRAN hardly absorbs water. Even when it is wet, its quality stays the same as in ordinary condition, displaying equivalent performance.
